hatonrack brings Volume to Australia
From February to July 2010, the Volume tour will bring hatonrack's renowned style of hip hop to venues throughout NSW and capital cities Australia-wide. The tour will be the launch vehicle for a whole volume of new releases from hatonrack artists 206collab, Nick Knowledge, 1NF0 and LHA. It will also present other Sydney guests and local talent from each location.
The Volume tour kicks off with a tour launch at Antinutt studios, Redfern, on 26th February and a 206collab pre-release Sydney show on 27th February with Melbourne big-shot Phrase. Following that, hatonrack heads out of Sydney to spots including Canberra, Wollongong, Nowra, Bathurst, Wagga, Jindabyne, Gosford, Newcastle and more. "Anywhere we can get in and show music-lovers what we do on stage and with our records - we want to take the Volume tour there" says 206collab's Flip+Skip.
"We've blown up shows in Sydney and other state capitals for years and always love the stage, but the thing we're really looking forward to is getting to more regional spots and performing with crews in their local venues", says hatonrack's James Herlihy. "We hit a few smaller towns in the past couple of years, really loved the crowds in Bathurst, Nowra and Wollongong."
A sampler of hatonrack artists on the Volume tour
Joining the hatonrack music crew to film and record all performances and associated off-stage antics will be the Antinutt studios crew from Redfern, Sydney. From these exclusive recordings and clips, the hatonrack almanac will be created.
The hatonrack almanac is a monthly video podcast series to be rolled out in installments from April onwards. Involving artistic direction from Figureground, the web videos will present hatonrack's "first people" narrative, a video story about the first beings to emerge from the hatonrack realm to bring life, rhythm and entertainment to the human world.
"The hatonrack almanac's a pretty innovative concept" reflects JPlatnum. "With the almanac, the Volume tour and the vibe of our performances, we're really going to bring something that people haven't seen before. We really can't wait to open people's eyes and bring attention across Australia to the music and work we love."
