Funkoars - Is very good

It's no secret - Australia's baddest/best/rudest hip hop crew The Funkoars are back with an explosive fourth full length release, The Quickening. With the Adelaide quartet's last project, The Hangover, released in 2008, it's been a while between drinks.

Having loved the oars' work since 2003's Who's Your Stepdaddy?, we hatonrack cats were fiending for a new signature slamming Funkoars drum arrangement, an original cutting-edge sample sequence, and fresh Trials, Sesta and Hons verses rude enough to make the baddest bogan blush.

Thank god they've done it again. Check out the Funkoars' new video, It's All Good (Is Very Good), below - straight classic. Props to the 'oars for another banger, and to our friends from Flagrant Artist Management.

The Funkoars Quickening launch show blew the roof off Sydney's Beresford Hotel a couple of weeks back. There are still some shows happening around Australia. Check out the tour dates and make one if you can - you won't regret it!

Aloe Blacc - 'I need a dollar'

Last week I got my hands on Good Things, the new album from Californian Stonesthrow soul singer and MC, Aloe Blacc. I've got to say I was struck by the depth and beautiful soul quality of all aspects of the release from the first listen to the first track, I need a dollar.

New 206collab music video

The age of the 206collab music video has begun with The Paradoxx. Sure there's loads of video of 206 live performance around the web, but this is the first professionally produced music video for the group that first hit the stage in 2002 (RIP Nufunc!).

The Paradoxx is the first single from 206collab's upcoming album, Watch Kulagina. A top first effort we're all massively proud of. Huge props to Director Oscar Molinari and his crew, Antinutt on production and on building the set, and a begrudging single prop to hatonrack colleague and partner in public exposure, Terry Newman, on post-production and general hustle to make it happen.

Watch Kulagina is the second release in hatonrack's Volume series. Watch this space for more on the Volume series - we hope you'll be hearing it soon on your radios and seeing it on your TVs!

Music videos from Obese artists

Just been on the Tube and discovered some nice stuff from old and new artists on the Obese roster.

Check out Mantra's video for "I Hereby Stand" from his album Power of the Spoken, dropping in a couple of week's time. Dope. Eno and I have known Mantra since our first visit to Melbourne as 206collab years and years back. Back then he was running with the now defunct Awakenings crew (Aux One, Nick Sweepah, Ivenz, Hykoo, Muph, etc.), long before Equills and Illzilla. I remember seeing him perform at Nufunc in about 2003 and thinking this dude's got as much stage presence as Prozack Turner of Foreign Legion fame, which is alot. Big ups on this shit.
